Questions, answered.
The essentials before you start.
What can I try for free?
The free plan includes the first 5 minutes of each audio or video file and 10 dictations. You do not need a credit card to try it. Upgrade when you want to transcribe the rest of a longer recording or keep dictating.
What can I upload?
Upload a prerecorded audio or video file, such as MP3, WAV, M4A, or MP4. 1Transcribe turns the speech into a transcript you can review. You can also extract text from PDFs and images.
Can I record a meeting that has already started?
Yes. In the desktop app, click the floating button once to start recording and again when the meeting ends. Then review the transcript and notes. Ask participants for permission before recording.
How do I dictate into another app?
Open the desktop app and place your cursor where you want to write. Click the floating button, speak, then click again to finish. Your words appear at the cursor, with filler words removed and punctuation added.
Are transcription, meetings, and dictation one subscription?
Yes. One subscription covers file transcription, meeting recording, dictation, and the included AI tools across supported devices. The floating-button workflows shown on this site are in the desktop app.
How large can my recordings be?
With a paid plan, each audio or video file can be up to 5 GB and 10 hours long. On the free plan, you can preview the first 5 minutes before deciding whether to upgrade.
Should I review the transcript?
Yes. AI transcription can make mistakes, especially with overlapping speech, background noise, names, or technical terms. Check important details and quotations against the original recording before using or sharing them.
Can I tell who said what?
Speaker labels help distinguish different voices in the transcript. Review the labels against the recording, especially when people speak at the same time.
Can I download the text?
Yes. Export transcripts as Word documents (DOCX), PDFs, plain text (TXT), or subtitle files (SRT). Review the text and subtitle timing before sharing.
What happens to my recordings and text?
Original audio and video files are removed from our servers after 14 days. Saved transcripts remain until you delete them. Dictation has separate processing and history rules. Read the privacy terms for the details of each workflow.
How do cancellation and refunds work?
Cancel through the billing provider you used to subscribe. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not automatically refund a past payment. Refund eligibility depends on the applicable terms and purchase platform. Contact support if you need help.
